Two years have passed by and half a million jokes have been made on the question, ‘कटप्पा ने बाहुबली को क्यों मारा?’. (WTF ! Why did Katappa kill Bahubali?)
Keeping Jokes apart, the joke that was a running gag in the industry has become the biggest marketing tactic of Indian Cinema, that has kept the interest of people in the second and conclusive chapter of the Bahubali enterprise. Today the trailer of the conclusion dropped in and we today got a sneak peak into what the movie will look like, which is all set to release on 28th April 2017. The buzz is huge. Intentionally or not, Bollywood is not releasing any ‘Big’ movies for atleast 3 weeks. The biggest release planned so far is ‘Half girlfriend’, starring Arjun and Shraddha on 19th May. There are fair chances that, if Bahubali-2 has a compelling narrative it might be the biggest pot-boilers or even the biggest money makers of 2017 even in Bollywood.
Now lets talk about the trailer.
Mahishmati is still the same, it looks more polished though in the trailer, keeping in mind that now it will be telling the story in flashback about the ‘Life and Death of Amarendra Bahubali’. I am really happy with the CG work done to create the kingdom, it looks very neatly done and has the finesse, almost to a level of good Hollywood Movie. Visuals are amazing specially the giant elephant shaped waterfalls, with a ship passing by is what remains in the memory for sure.
Anushka and Prabhas in a still from the movie
Well this time it doesn’t seem that there would be a battle with demonish enemies in Bahubali, this time it looks more like Mahabharat, atleast that is what trailer gives out. ‘Antaryudhh’ (An internal war), says queen Sivagaami, should be the crux of the conflict in this part. If we talk about the action choreography, it seems amazing. Power Packed action sequences are breathtaking. The final war sequences between the Bhallaldev and Shivudu (Shiva : Son of Amarendra Bahubali), are the highlight of the trailer. Even Anushka who plays Devsena has action sequences, to watch out for, also that she is looking ravishing throughout the trailer.
Musical Score: Its apt !
Emotional Atyachar :
Trailer offers you a big dose of emotional connect as well, specially the opening monologue of Amarendra Bahubali. The sequence where he says, “Tumhare hote hue, mujhe maarne waala paida nahi hua mama”, and the agony laden look of Katappa, makes us forget all the jokes made in the past two years. It gives not a clue, so as to why did Katappa kill Bahubali, and teases the audience to go and watch the film. Smart !
Why Katappa? Why?
In totality trailer does, what it was intended to do. It garners interest of people who have been wanting to know ‘कटप्पा ने बाहुबली को क्यों मारा?’. (WTF ! Why did Katappa kill Bahubali?).
