” Choti choti chitrayi yaadein, bichhi hui hai lamho ki lawn pe … nange pair unpar chalte chalte itni door aa gaye hai … ki ab bhool gaye hai joote kahaan utare the”

The poetry from #VikramadityaMotwane’s debut movie #Udaan is definitely the best written material in last decade undoubtedly. Udaan itself is a poetry on screen written by #AnuraagKashyap and #VikramadityaMotwane. The story of 17 year old Rohan( Played by #RajatBarmecha) who is expelled from his boarding school comes back to his father(Played by #RonitRoy), his only family and get to know that he also have a 6 year old half brother Arjun( #AyaanBoradia). Soon he pushed into family business and engineering college by his authoritarian father who don’t even like to be called as “Daddy” which crushes the dreams of Rohan who wants to be a poet. Story takes twist and turns and Rohan finally finds a friend in his half younger brother. Rohan who was unable to have courage to stands up for himself finally stands up for his younger brother. Story ends up where Rohan takes away Arjun from his father and writes a letter to him which forces me everytime to give it a standing ovation!

The beauty of Udaan lies in it simplicity. The portrayal of Jamshedpur as small city of India which still lives somewhere between modern and classic India is beautiful. You don’t feel like asking any question to the director. Film explains everything with such a ease that it is even not verbose apart from the beautiful poetry for the character of Rohan written by #DevanshuSingh and #SatyanshuSingh which deserve a special mention because those were the lines where the soul of Udaan lies.

But that’s not all. One have to mention the music of Udaan given by #AmitTrivedi. No doubt Udaan sets him as a new star in Indian Music Industry. The performances of all the three leads were equally good. #AyaanBoradia steals your heart. #RajatBarmecha becomes your poster boy. A hero in true sense and you hate #RonitRoy for his role of the father. It was that good that it leads him to win all awards in that year for Best Supporting Actor. Udaan won 7 #Filmfare Awards in 2011 including Best Story, Screenplay and Best Film Critics.

Udaan is film which will stay with you forever and so as these lines-

Meri tarah hota agar khud par zara bharosa,

toh kuch door tum bhi saath saath aate …

rang meri aankhon ka baantte zara sa,

toh kuch door tum bhi saath saath aate …

nasha aasman ka joh choomta tumhe,

hasratein tumhari naya janam paati …

khud doosre janam mein meri udaan chhoone,

kuch door tum bhi saath saath aate”
